We need to have NT Bible authority for all we do as Christians (Col 3:17).  There are many civic and humanitarian organizations we could soupport as individual Christians, which are NOT part of the mission of the local church.  If I want to support "Toys for Tots"; "Make a Wish Foundation"; "Mountain States Children's Home"; or "African Wildlife Federation"-- or a dozen other things, that's fine for me as an individual believer (Gal 6:10; Jas 1:27); although it is not the work God gives to the Church.
